TABLE OF CONTENTS

1. Before you begin

Before you begin your analysis, we recommend you plan out what analyses you want to produce, in line with the UniApp workflow below.

  1. Before any data exploration or analysis takes place, outline the question you want to answer.

  2. Identify what projects you need to answer this question.

  3. Identify what tracks you need in each project to fulfill the aim of that project.

  4. Select the algorithms you want to use and run them on your data.

  5. Plot the output of your analyses by arranging tracks and projects in a meaningful way. This will allow you to tell a story and answers the question you defined at the beginning of your workflow.

  6. Publish your analysis, having answered the question you set out to investigate.

2. Landing page

Once you have logged in to the UniApp you will be greeted with the UniApp landing page.

3 Start up with data management

From the data management tab you can upload, import and organize datasets for analysis. To begin a new experiment you will need to either upload or import a dataset for analysis.

4. Data

4.1 Upload dataset

To upload a dataset, you can click on the Upload dataset button. You will be automatically brought to a new page where you will be able to upload your data and metadata (explained in the Creating a new experiment and data upload chapter).

4.2 Import data

To import a dataset, you can click on the Import Data button. The data processing wizard will import the data. You can also create subsets of your data, normalize data and filter data.

4.3 Organize datasets

To edit existing datasets, you can click on the Organize Datasets button. This will allow you to browse your datasets, to rename and edit them and to delete any experiments that are no longer needed.

5 Quick start your analysis

Once you have your dataset ready, you can perform different analyses from the analysis tab. To begin your analysis, you first need to create a project.

5.1 Create a workspace

If no workspace exist, you need to create a workspace before you can start carrying out an analysis. Click on the Workspace management button to create a new workspace or to manage and edit existing workspaces.

5.2 Select a project to work on

Click on the track overview button to work on the tracks belonging to the last selected project or to add new tracks to the last selected project. The title of the last selected project is displayed here.

5.3 Plan out your analysis with plots

Click on the plot overview button to work on the plots belonging to the last selected track or to add new plots to the last selected track. The title of the last selected track is displayed here.

5.4 Perform analysis

Click on the create plot page button to work on the plots belonging to the last selected track or to add new plots to the last selected track. The title of the latest placeholder plot is displayed here.

5.5 View analysis results

Click on the interactive plot to work on plotting the analysis that was most recently performed. The title of the latest performed analysis is displayed here.

5.6 Publish your analysis

Click on the Preview data portal button to preview your project and export it to the data portal, where it can be shared with others.
